Dr. Daria Rabotkina joined the Texas State music faculty as Assistant Professor and artist/teacher of piano in 2016. Born in Kazan, Russia, into a family of musicians, she gave her first solo recital at the age of ten. She received her education at the Kazan State Conservatory and Mannes College of Music in New York City under the tutelage of Vladimir Feltsman. She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree and the Artist Certificate from the Eastman School of Music, where she studied with Natalya Antonova. She has taught at the Kazan State Conservatory, Baruch College, CUNY, and the Eastman School of Music.
Dr. Rabotkina's concerto highlights include San Francisco and New World Symphonies, Kirov (Mariinsky) Orchestra, Moscow State Symphony, Winnipeg Symphony, Hudson Philharmonic, Charleston Symphony, Harrisburg Symphony, Orquesta Sinfonica de Concepción and Turku Philharmonic Orchestra (Bernstein's Age of Anxiety). Her orchestral collaborations include conductors Michael Tilson Thomas, Valery Gergiev, Vladimir Feltsman, Julian Kuerti, JoAnn Falletta, Benjamin Shwartz, and Giancarlo Guerrero. Dr. Rabotkina has given recitals at the Kennedy Center (Washington Performing Arts Society), Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall and Merkin Concert Hall in New York, Ravinia's Rising Stars, Dame Myra Hess and PianoForte Salon Series in the Chicago area, the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory and in Denmark, Switzerland, and Japan.
Winner of the 2007 Concert Artists Guild International Competition, Dr. Rabotkina has received top prizes at many international competitions and participated in Russia's White Nights Festival, Finland's Kuhmo Festival, Copenhagen's Summer Festival and Germany's MusikFest in Kreuth. In the United States, Dr. Rabotkina has appeared at the Rockport Chamber Music Festival, International Keyboard Institute and Festival, Music Academy of the West, and PianoSummer at New Paltz.
Her debut recital disc, spotlighting the Tchaikovsky Grand Sonata and Prokofiev's Ten Pieces from Romeo and Juliet, garnered universal critical praise. Her second solo CD, on CAG Records (2012), features Beethoven's Diabelli Variations. Dr. Rabotkina's third project involved live recording of three concerti is as part of the Victor Elmaleh Collection.
Dr. Patty Lee enjoys an active teaching career teaching at Texas Lutheran University as well as the University of the Incarnate Word.
Dr. Lee received her Master of Music and Doctorate of Musical Arts degrees in piano performance from The University of Texas at Austin, Butler School of Music where she studied with Nancy Garrett. During her studies she served as an Assistant Instructor to Martha Hilley and Sophia Gilmson. Under their guidance she taught applied and group piano classes as well as private lessons for The University of Texas Piano Project, a program that pairs UT piano majors with young students in the Austin community. She worked with Dr. Elliott Antokoletz to write the lecture document "Improvisation on Francis Poulenc's Improvisations" which received the Outstanding Doctor of Musical Arts Lecture Recital Award. She was also awarded Outstanding Doctor of Musical Arts Chamber Recital and the Mary D. Bold Scholarship.
She grew up in California and received her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of California Santa Barbara where she studied with Dr. Charles Asche. There she won many awards and scholarships including the Carnzu Clark Music Scholarship, Leni Fe Bland Music Scholarship, Erno Daniel Memorial Scholarship, and placed in the Performing Arts Scholarship Foundation multiple times.
She also enjoys an active performing career as a solo and collaborative artist. Recent performance highlights include the Texas Music Teacher's Association Conference New Faculty Recital and Guest Artist Recitals with trombonists Christopher Davis from Northwestern University and Jon Whitaker from the University of Alabama at Texas State University. She is a frequent collaborator and has collaborated with students at The University of Texas at Austin, Texas State University, Texas Lutheran University, and Concordia University Texas.
Dr. Lee is a member of Austin District Teachers Music Association and currently serves as Festival Coordinator and is part of the Student Events Committee. She frequently adjudicates competitions at the regional level.
Dr. SungEun Park has extensively performed as a solo pianist and chamber musician throughout Korea, Italy and the United States. Dr. Park has earned her degrees in Piano Performance from the University of Texas at Austin (DMA), Texas State University (MM). Her principle teachers include Nancy Garrett, David Renner, Jason Kwak, and Kyung-ae Lee.
Dr. Park has won several competitions including the 5TH Texas State International Piano Festival Concerto Competition, American Prize, Sidney Wright Endowed Presidential Scholarship, Butler School of Music Concerto Competition, Texas State University Concerto Competition, and Seoul Asia International Music Competition. Her concerto appearances include performances with the Round Rock Symphony Orchestra, the University of Texas Symphony Orchestra, Texas State University Symphony Orchestra, the Balcones Community Orchestra, and Jeju Philharmonic Orchestra. Besides the classical piano repertoire, she has frequently premiered new works by leading contemporary composers. She has been invited to perform as guest artist at National Association of Composers 2015-2016.
Dr. Park joins the Texas State International Piano Festival as Associate Program Director.
