Performing Arts Center
Opened in the Fall of 2014, the Performing Arts Center (PERF) sits at the intersection of University Drive and Moon Street. Designed by the architectural firm of Morris Architects, the 69,122-square-foot facility houses classes and performances from the School of Music and the Department of Theatre and Dance.
This state-of-the-art building features two professional-quality performance venues, the Patti Strickel Harrison Theatre and the Recital Hall.
- The Patti Strickel Harrison Theatre seats 397 patrons and hosts large-scale performances such as the Texas State University Opera, the Hill Country Jazz Festival, and Mariachi Fest.
- The Recital Hall seats 312 patrons and hosts performance by guest artists, School of Music faculty, solo student recitals, and various student ensembles.
During the Fall of 2020, the PERF debuted high-tech live-streaming and video recording equipment in the Recital Hall. This equipment includes an AW-HE130 HD integrated PTZ camera from Panasonic, a high-definition, robotic camera that is remotely controllable. This robotic camera adds movement and depth to each performance. In tandem with two stationary Panasonic cameras, streams are shot from three angles simultaneously, creating high-quality, professional live-streaming experiences.
Live-streams of School of Music events are viewable at through the university box office website.
