Arthur Latin II

Drummer Arthur Latin II has thrilled audiences throughout the United States and internationally, performing with many established performers in various genres. Mr. Latin has performed with such musical artists as Harry Connick Jr., Branford Marsalis, Ellis Marsalis, Gloria Estefan, Marc Anthony, George Jones, John Williams, Patti LaBelle, Michael McDonald, Carrie Underwood, Kim Burrell, Dr. John, Allen Toussaint, Aaron Neville, Art Neville, Ivan Neville, Jon Batiste, Kelli O' Hara, Marilyn Maye, Clark Terry, Frank Foster, David "Fathead" Newman, Kirk Whalum, Kyle Turner, Bill Watrous, Rick Springfield, and PJ Morton. From 1997 to the present, Mr. Latin is the drummer for Harry Connick Jr. and His Big Band, Orchestra, small group (trio and quartet), and various combinations performing worldwide. His love of drumming can be traced to when he was a young child. At the age of three, he showcased his passion and desire for drumming by playing in his father's church.

Mr. Latin has performed in these popular venues, Hollywood Bowl, Lincoln Center, Wolfe Trap, Red Rocks, Royal Albert Hall, Palladium London, Sydney Opera House, The Olympia Theatre, The White House, Yankee Stadium, Grand Ole Opry, Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony in Oslo Norway, Newport Jazz Festival, New Orleans Jazz Festival, North Sea Jazz Festival, Montreux Jazz Festival, and many more symphony halls, concert halls, and theaters across the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia, Asia, and Africa.

Over Mr. Latin's professional career, he has both performed nationally and internationally on television. From performing on the Royal Variety Show in London, England in 2019, to NBA All-Star Half-Time Show in 2001 and 2008, Winter Olympics Closing Ceremonies in 2003, and Evening at Pops with Harry Connick Jr., John Williams, and Boston Pops Orchestra on PBS in 2001.

From 2016-2018, Mr. Latin was the drummer for HARRY, a daytime talk show starring Harry Connick Jr. HARRY was nominated for five Daytime Emmy Awards. This led to many opportunities for Mr. Latin to perform with many notable musicians, personalities, and celebrity guests.

Mr. Latin's talent also extends to Broadway where he has performed in these productions, Harry Connick Jr.: A Celebration of Cole Porter, Nederlander Theatre in 2019, Harry Connick Jr.: In Concert on Broadway, Neil Simon Theatre in 2010, and Thou Shalt Not (Workshop) with Harry Connick Jr. and Susan Stroman, Lincoln Center in 2001.

Mr. Latin is passionate about working with future musicians to help them achieve their potential. Over his professional career, Mr. Latin has taught private drum lessons and has given master classes for various ensembles. The teaching philosophy of Mr. Latin is that through hard work, focus, desire, and practice, any student can fulfill their career ambitions.
