BM, Voice Performance Major
Minimum required: 120 semester hours
General requirements (43 hours): General education core curriculum components must be completed. These requirements can be found in the Core Curriculum section of the Undergraduate Catalog. Voice Performance Majors are encouraged to take DAN 1160, 1161, 1170, 1171, 1180, 1181, 1190, and/or 1191, or PFW 1155b-e.

B. Performance Area Requirements (25 hours)
- Applied Lessons (MUSP) - 2 credit hours each for 8 semesters
- Major Ensemble (MUSE) - 1 credit hour for 8 semesters (see Music Student Handbook for specific ensemble requirements based on concentrations)
- Only one major ensemble per semester will be applied towards the degree requirements

Diagnostic exams: students who score less than 70% on the music theory placement test will take MU5357 Graduate Music Theory and Musicianship. Students who score less than 70% on the music history placement test will take MU 5330A History and Analysis in Music in addition to the degree requirements listed below. Students who score less than 80% on the Diction Placement exam will take MU 2141 Diction in Singing I and MU 2142 Diction in Singing II.
Languages: One year each of TWO of the standard singing languages (French, German, and Italian) at the college level or proof of language proficiency at the Beginner Level II (1420) as determined by the Texas State Department of Modern Languages.
