The opera is set around the Prince of Karlsberg who is excited to attend the famous University of Heidelberg. After making friends and then falling in love with his innkeeper's daughter, Kathie, the prince is forced to decide whether to return to Karlsberg to fulfill his royal duties or to follow his heart.
This opera was produced and made into a movie in 1927 and again in 1954 and is acclaimed for its songs sung in English. The performance will be accompanied by the Texas State University Chamber Orchestra conducted by Maestro Dr. Jonathan Babcock.
